St. Paul Minnesota Archdiocese Notice

As you know, Father George Kallumkalkudy, who is a member of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), a religious order headquartered in India, has been serving here at Saint Ignatius.

Recently, the Archdiocese was contacted regarding an allegation of inappropriate conduct with an adult on the part of Father George.  Following its protocols, the Archdiocese immediatedly contacted law enforcement, provided them with the information received, and explained that no action would be taken that could interfere with their efforts.

Additionally, with the permission of law enforcement, the Archdiocese notified the CMI of the situation.  On Friday evening, we were informed that the Superior General of the CMI has withdrawn Father George's permission to engage in ministry until more is known and this matter is resolved.  As a result, Father George may not engage in ministry within the Archiocese.

The Archdiocese is working to find ways to meet your ministerial needs in Father George's absence.  We ask for you patience. As we learn more, we will keep you updated.
