    GIFT BEARERS
The presentation of the offertory gifts is an honored, symbolic gesture. Dating back to the early Church, St. Augustine spoke of the “admirable exchange that takes place, where the faithful return the gifts they have been given back to God.” The same is true with the presentation of our gifts in the Mass today. In the bread and wine, we offer back to God the gifts of creation and the result of our labors - “fruit of the earth and work of human hands.” The rite symbolizes giving our entire lives to God in the offering of bread and wine that will be transformed into the real presence, body, blood, soul
and divinity of Jesus Christ. At each Mass, the privilege of presenting the gifts is available to everyone and you are invited to participate. A signup sheet is available in the gathering space. You can sign up in advance or right before Mass. Perhaps you have a special occasion you want to honor, i.e., a birthday or anniversary, or just want to serve. Put your name in the date/time to reserve. A minimum of 2 people is needed. After the Prayers of the Faithful, go to the back of the church to receive the gifts. The ushers will be there to help and can accompany you in the procession.
