Generally first communion Sunday is held the middle to end of April. Those receiving this sacrament, generally those in second grade, need to have been baptized and a certificate of Baptism must be on record at the religious education office. Also, the first communicant must have made his or her first RECONCILIATION before receiving the holy Eucharist. Parents need to help their children realize the importance of attending mass and receiving communion each week.

Students in the 10th grade who are baptized, have made their first communion and first reconciliation and have met various requirements, as per the religious education director, are eligible to be confirmed. Confirmation usually takes place in April at the St. Paul Cathedral, on a date selected by the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Becoming a confirmed catholic elevates the student to adult status in the church.

Jesus entrusted the ministry of reconciliation to the Church. The Sacrament of Penance is God's gift to us so that any sin committed after Baptism can be forgiven. In confession we have the opportunity to repent and recover the grace of friendship with God. It is a holy moment in which we place ourselves in his presence and honestly acknowledge our sins, especially mortal sins. With absolution, we are reconciled to God and the Church. This Sacrament helps us stay close to the truth that we cannot live without God. "In him we live and move and have our being" (Acts 17:28).
* Available on Saturday 4:30 p.m. or by appointment
